It’s a great joy to be a father : Aamir Khan

Actor Aamir Khan, who became a father on December 1, after wife Kiran Rao and he opted for surrogacy, says fatherhood is the most exciting role he has ever played.

“It’s a great joy to be a father. Kiran and I are really overjoyed. We can’t get enough of Azad. A baby is like a miracle and
nothing comes close to it,” says the actor, who is currently shooting for Reema Katgi’s film, Taalash.

And while wife Kiran might have proven herself as a fantastic director with her debut film Dhobi Ghat (2011), her husband has discovered a fine actor within her and is longing to work with her. “I want to fall in love with Kiran again on screen. I want to direct her. I think she is a fantastic actor, better than me, and one day I hope to see her on Indian screens or in theatre or doing some acting anywhere,” says Aamir, who worked under her direction in Dhobi Ghat.

Aamir reveals that initially he wanted her to play the role of Yasmin, which was essayed by debutant Kirti Malhotra. “I was very keen for Kiran to play Yasmin. I think Kriti has done a wonderful job and I don’t want to take away the credit from what she has done. But before I saw Kriti’s face, I wanted Kiran to play the part,” says Aamir.

Talking about Kagti’s film, he says, “I play a police officer. It’s a crime-action film. We are shooting at locations that have never been explored before. You will get to see a new face of Mumbai.”

Aamir does not rule out a possibility of writing an autobiography. “Whatever experience I gained from my life, my personal relations, industry and career, I would like to put it into an autobiography. But it’s going to be a difficult task.”
